low RPM idle then dies
Yo, so i was driving my 09 hhr ss last night and i had an instant loss of power. the car slowly revved down till about 500-1000 rpm. I shifted it into neutral and the car died. it still turns on and runs at between 250 and 500 for a minute until it dies again.
It has had rattling from the timing chain for the last month but i dont think thats whats going on.
Anything magic we can work?

Did the ENGINE CHECK LIGHT come on? If so, what was the code that was downloaded?
"It has had rattling from the timing chain for the last month" - that makes me wonder what other maintenance items have been neglected.

If the chain needs to be replaced, the Cloyes 9-4201SX is for the SS 2.0 , the crankshaft gear is different in the SS and it is not included in this kit, also the VVT camshaft phasers are different, so the cam sprockets are not included either.
If you need new camshaft phasers ZZP has these take offs,
https://zzperformance.com/products/cam-phasers
while your getting yourself oily and greasy change the balance shaft chain with Cloyes kit 9-4202S.

It's seems it's another "One and done" poster. Per his time stamp, he DID return but didn't check in on his own thread.
Sad. We've had so many of these lately. Not getting the reasoning of asking for help then not participating.
Fwiw. I've noticed a lot of these types have something in common. If their user name is a proper 1st and last name spelled with capitals, they usually don't come back. Got a list of these sitting by my home PC.
