what might cause my hhr to lose power and eventually stall out. acted like running out of gas but had 1/4 tank. shifted to neutral, restarted and all seemed fine except t/c light was on until next start. haven't checked for codes yet, just wondering if this ever happened to anyone else. 2006 lt, 2.5l with 213,000 kms

Without the codes, any suggestions would be a total guess (ie: fuel pump failing, clogged fuel rail etc.).Grab those codes and post them here, and we'll see what advice is forthcoming.

Tip: when you get the codes (hopefully there will be one or more), use the SEARCH tool near the top of the page and do a search for the code(s) - the results may point you the right direction.

Guessing the 2.5l is a typo?

As whopper said. Get the codes pulled and we'll try to lead you in the right direction.

My 2011 does pretty much what you describe 30 miles after the fuel low comes on. It seems to go into "fuel saving" mode for several miles before the real bucking and stalling starts.

Somebody here had a problem with the carbon balls coming out of the EGR system and clogging the fuel pump when it got low. Your (how do you say mileage in Canadian?) would have me thinking fuel pump or related.
