Malfunctioning Alarm

Decided to check my 08 and have the same thing. The dic should say DOOR OPEN since the switch on the hinged side detect it only when the door is opened beyond the latched point. ON other cars that had that feature if the door latch wasn't tight meaning caught and latched somewhat but not where anyone could fall out the inst panel would say door ajar. That push switch should be mounted on the back by the latch so if the door popped open a 1/2 inch the light would come on and the passenger in the back would still be safe, or replaced with one that will activate sooner. I want to find out how to remove that switch and re-locate it to the latch side. Looks like the post panel will have to be removed to get to the switch. I know all these plastic panels just pop into place but knowing which direction to pull makes a difference. I cracked a pillar cover on my old Silverado since I pulled slightly the wrong way and it was cold also outside.

I remember, as a kid, that my parents would close our doors, and once inside the car they would lock the doors and make sure we were all in our seats. We did not have seat belts in our cars and not one of us ever opened the doors, nor did any of us fall out of the car.
Too me, there is a big false sense of security relying on a “DIC” to ensure my kids are safe and secured in the car. Don’t parents check on their kids? Or do they just toss them in the car, throw it in gear and go? .. I mean check the DIC and then throw it in gear and go...
