That is, it should be cut at the entrance to the castle and grounded? Or at the entrance to the BCM?

You could just splice in a ground wire. Note the switch in the latch connects the BCM pin 55 to ground.

My first test would be a continuity test from the switch to ground. Then the pink/blk wire from the switch to the BCM. (are the wires good?)

Then with door closed continuity from pin 6 on the switch to ground. (is the switch good?)

This is a simple analog circuit. Just a switch to ground/earth; whichever you call it.

This is assuming that the latch works; can you open the hatch by pushing on the pad?

To completely bypass the switch, run a jumper wire from pin 6 to pin 5 or 3. That should tell the BCM that the gate is closed unless the pnk/blk wire is broken somewhere.

Thanks for the advice. The wire is good. He took off and put the connector from the BCM. Most likely, there was a bad contact in the connector. The message is gone. Everything works in normal mode.

Hi all
New guy here. Having the same issue. If I understand the above correctly, grounding the pink/black wire will make the BCM see the rear as closed correct? I'm at the BCM and there are 2 pink/black wires. One is pin 1 and the other is close to pin 55 at the end on the top right. Which one do I ground?

What is not clear? Why not fix the latch?

The latch works fine. Somewhere between the BCM and the rear of the car there is a break. In the pink/ purple so I was going to ground it at the BCM

Here are more diagrams. Where do you see a pink/purple?
Have you checked for continuity between pin 55 on the BCM and pin 6 on the latch?

It looks like I have a pink/purple on pin 1 and pin 57 or 58. I did not check continuity, I was just going to ground it to silence it and be done with it.

Maybe but why are you looking there? 55 is the one you want.

BU/BLK is on #1 that is the left rear door signal.

I appreciate all the assistance and your patience with me. So here's what I have. I read and understand what you have posted so far. On my car, as I look at the diagram you posted, in my car pin 1 (bottom right) is pink/purple. Pin 55 (top right) is blue/black. I attempted to ground them both and neither met with success. I was hoping to ground this at the BCM and not have to try to track down a break in the 10 miles of wires but I may not have a choice unless someone has a different suggestion or can point out what I may be doing wrong. Thanks all!
