I have a 06 hhr with 140000 miles on it and all of a sudden my TV light comes on then my check engine light starts to flash when I pulled over my car was running rough ran the codes and said misfire in number 2 . I have a failed spark plug. Would this cause the TV light to come on first?

 

You've got a TV in your HHR?

 

TC yes that would do it. Flashing CEL means PARK ME NOW; if you are lucky it is only a clogged catalytic converter.

your issue could be several issues , get your battery load tested and the charging system tested.
P0301 could loose coil connections, a downed spark plug

I did pull the spark plugs and #1 was good #2 was black gas and oil fouled #3 has a lean condition #4 looked good. Changed all the plugs but still running rough. Anout 8 months ago I had the timing chain done and the fule injectors done and the boots to the coils done. Been running great untill this happend .

 

What plugs did you install?
Did you check the MAF sensor connection?
coils connections, fuel injectors connections,hit a huge pothole lately?

Try a full battery lobotomy , simply disconnect the ground terminal for a full 30 minutes.
When you took the air cleaner box off did you look at the throttle body ?
Is it clean ? Or oily or carboned along the edge of the throttle plate?
Now , do not move that plate by hand, the plastic gears strip very easily.
Consider cleaning the throttle body with CRC throttle body spray cleaner
if you have to go to the parts palace, CRC has a MAF sensor cleaner also , clean the MAF just a squirt and let it dry before reinstalling it.

 

If the #2 plug is oil fouled, then you have serious engine damage. You may want to do a compression test to confirm but any time there is oil inside a cylinder it's not good.
I would say you're looking at an engine replacement.

 

Had the old chain failed? Did the mechanic check pistons for damage?

Ok so I no the timing chain did not fail before it was replace. I had it done as preventive maintenance. I installed 41-103 acdelco spark plugs. Throttle body is clean. Mass air sensor is clean and working. Air filter is clean. I just got done checking the coil and it is working properly. The exhaust system seems to be flowing well . But I still get code p0302. And it runs rough. I am working on getting an compression test tool. And I will do that and see where It is with that.
