Update on project

So I ordered a remanufactured head from Clearwater heads in Clearwater Florida. It was 430 that included shipping and return shipping for the core. Changed the catalytic converter. Now just waiting on the head to get here will be here friday. And hopefully by the end of the weekend the old girl will be alive again. Oh by the way oldblue I am replacing the plugs with acdelco rapid fires

Those plugs are copper core, platinum tipped. NOT the iridiums that are the recommended plugs for the Ecotec family of engines.
I tried to look them up for the 2.2 and the 2.0 turbo. All I got was "WILL NOT FIT your selected vehicle."

Good news, those rapid fires aren’t for our Ecotec’s

I'm baffled by this.

So update. So I got the remanufactured head on. Did everything by the book triple checked every thing. I go to start the car and it sounds like I have no compression. Do a compression test and had no compression in any cylinder. So thought I did the timing wrong so I took every thing apart and realized that I hydrostatic the head bolts. Ok so get new gaskets new head bolts and cleaned out the bolt holes and made sure that they were dry. And put everything back together. I went over everything three times and had a buddy double check me. Go to start the car and sounds like I have no compression again. Any one have an idea of what I might be over looking?

Somebody else recently got a new head for their 2.2L engine but the cams were for a 2.4L. Did you use your old cams?

What is " hydrostatic the head bolts." I've never heard the phrase.

I had fluid in the head bolts there for had a false torque. And no I did not use my old cams. This head came pre-assimbled.

Well, we're speculating that the cams were for a 2.4, no proof yet. Damaged pistons have not been ruled out yet.
