Muffler Problem(Actually smoking excessively after an oil change)

Oldblue, it's not unheard of for certain engines to take a "dislike" to Synthetic motor oils, what oil were you running. Mobil 1, Quaker State, Castrol, Amsoil, Pennzoil, etc?
I had one nice moderate mileage, leak free 305, turn into an oil consuming drivway staining monster when I tried Mobil 1 in it.
Once I switched back to Castrol 10W-30, it took a full oil change cycle to get it back to normal, theoretically every Ecotec that left the Tonowanda engine plant from '06-'11 was identical to every other Ecotec of the same RPO code.
Except for model year to model year changes, and the fact that the '06 Ecotecs used the original Gen-1 architecture, there shouldn't be wide variations between two engines that left the line one in front of the other. In the real world, one engine would be unquestionably dependable, and the other would drop a rod at 6,000 miles.
