Need Transmision help

I have had this happen twice now! I drive about 55 miles one way to work mostly highway and have about 117000 miles on the car. I will be going up a hill and once with cruze once without it will upshift for power like normal but when it goes back into overdrive it seems to go back in hard and keep going in and out hard untill I get off the highway. Then once I get off the highway its starts chugging like its converter is locked up. It will act like this until I shut off the car and wait about a min then when I start it back up its fine. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks Dain

With 117,000 on the clock have you ever had the trans fluid changed? Recommended change at 100,000 for normal usage and 50,000 for heavy duty use.

I hope that you mean downshifts for power then back up to overdrive. After shifting up/down relatively often the fluid will foam up and cause converter problems, that is what you seem to be describing.

You might want to look into a trans service, may be low/burned fluid, at 117K a (first) flush may not be advisable. Problem is, it's difficult to do without a lift-easy with a lift and the fluid alone is about $50. So, if the guy up the street charges $100, it's probably not a bad deal.
