Ron S@ not to sound stupid, but are you talking about the battery being vented or the hhr?? I was told by the dealer that the little grey tube back there hanging out in the open was the vent, is this not correct? I have no owners manual no nothing. What will happen if its not vented, will it explode or what??

He's talking about the battery. The vent is to allow gas/fumes to be vented to the outside via that little grey tube. If not vented, could your battery blow up? Probably not, your alternator only charges your battery at a high rate when your start you car. The faster the car starts the shorter the high charge rate. In order to produce enough hydrogen gas to explode, the battery acid would need to be boiling, not likely under normal conditions. Then you'd
need a spark or flame near the battery. If you have the little cover over the positive terminal and you don't smoke whild you're back there, this too is not likely. All that being said, I still want a vented battery in a vehicle that has the battery mouted somewherein the interior of the vehicle.

Alright that makes sense, but when I removed the stock battery that tube was hooked to nothing. I will take my chances, I haven't died yet.

Unless the tube had become disconnected, that probably wasn't the stock battery.....
