Good news. As mentioned by a poster, emissions 100k warranty will be covering my exhaust problem repair. It is the gasket in front of the flex pipe.

I got a call, covered and done tomorrow. Now I find out that I need Stabilizer Bushings, a new belt, and an engine air filter.

They weren't gonna let you go FREE.. Good they are covering the Exhaust problem under warranty..

Those other items, you can do yourself, or with your mechanic friend. Don't throw yer money away.. Parts for those items is cheep.

The air filter, you should be well versed in removing the box, from your bracket issues.

Ha ha ha Sleeper. Yes, I think I can manage that one.

Tell me sleeper, Stabilizer links, are those on Sway bars? And how long are they?

The links connect to the front swaybar. (one on each side)..

You could get the lenght from your Dealer using your VIN, or measuring them..

I'm not sure if they meant sway bar bushings, or stabilizer links ?

He mis-spoke at first and said "Stabilizer bushings" but corrected himself as "stabilizer links"

Do you "need" a new serpentine belt, is it worn and cracked beyond specs, or is it a recommended service item (that every car with over 20K comes out with)? My Owner Manual says you don't even need to inspect it until 150K.
Sounds the same for air filter, check your book for mileage 50K I think.
They missed the cabin filter, that's every 25K or 24 months, whichever comes first.
My wife got a "recommendation" for a coolant replacement when she went in for state inspection, I just did that 200 miles ago, 2000 Mazda Protege with (really!) 40K, so it WAS like 5 months ago.

LOL thanks Don, no it's not damaged or anything, but that air filter hasn't been changed since I have owned the vehicle. And as far as I know, not before either. Now 80k miles. I will check it to see if they are bluffing, but I can feel a little side to side play now in the steering. SMH.

80k on the same air filter....faints.

Geez Kev, when they pop a new filter in there, you'll think you're driving an SS.....these engines work so much better when they can breathe.
