Here in New York City-where city driving really is CITY driving-I check my milage each tankful. The other day, I got 14.5 mpg. Bumper to bumper traffic yields ZERO mile per gallon.

Capt. Howdy,
If you have to idle longer than 30 to 45 seconds at any given stop, it is recommended that you shut off the engine...Remember...you are getting ZERO mpg when you are at IDLE!! Sitting for 45 minutes will make anyone's mileage horrendous!!!

I know. The MPG in the traffic jam was just for ****s and giggles to see what I would get. There is no way I can shut my car off anytime I idle for more than 30-45 seconds. I think all the cars behind me would hate me.

Where is this recommended?? That is absurd. Talk about where and tear on engine parts.

Yeah, pretty soon you`d be getting great mileage, on a flatbed, after you`ve melted down your starter.

Ok all i think i figured out the problem with my car. If i turn on the a/c in "recycle mode" i waste a ton of gas. if i leave it in "fresh" mode i get "regular gas milage" say what you will but it has PROVEN to be the difference in MY HHR!
