I just found out that something changed in the site software re: posting pics.

I fixed the pics here and am working on the tutorial. Actually it turns out that I should have highlighted one of the steps and added some clarification.

The computer geeks are excused. This time.

First, thanks for de-glitching the Tutorial Don, as always, your efforts are appreciated.

As far as the engine goes jcdew67, I'm going to say the sensible thing to do would be to swap in a good used engine.

I'm afraid that if you get the damaged unit running again, it wouldn't be for too long.

Yes TY Don for fixing that link for me.
I don't have the resources to do a engine swap at the moment,it is my son in law's car and him and my daughter both need a car,of course they have mine atm.
So the only choice I have is to hope I'm lucky and putting a good head along with timing chain will be good for a while.
True the sensible thing would be another engine or fix pistons but I don't have that option at the moment.
I will check pistons at TDC and make sure they are equal to try and rule out a bent rod.
I will file the raised edges smooth on dents and prey.lol
What makes it so bad is they still owe so much on it and have to carry full coverage while it is sitting in my driveway.
Thank you for all your suggestions

Let us know how you make out OK, it's a shame that circumstances force the kind of compromises you'll be forced to make. But, do the best work you can do, and keep your fingers crossed.

I think everything will work out fine!
Make sure you file down the top of the Pistons at the divot area.
Best of luck!
I once dropped a valve in my SBC drove it home from Virgina Beach on 7 cylinders, changed out the head cleaned up the piston and drove it for another 35,000 miles till I could afford another engine, so sometimes it's luck sometimes it's necessary

Unless the piston looked like this,

I'd put a head on it and give it a go...

BTW Don thanks for the insert picture tutorial link....

PM me with feedback on the tutorial, evidently things that seem clear to me are not clear to everyone else. And there are other ways to do it, I'm trying to find the "idiot proof" way for myself.
