No Tempature Reading

I don't know if this is the same problem I am having but sounds close. I have tried to have my error code read by autozone on several occasions, and even NTB with there more expensive ones and it will not pick up anything. No signal. The thermostat still works (mech) but the display does not work, neither the digital or the old style on the dash. Mine also has a secondary problem attached to it that you may not have noticed if it just started happening since it's cold. Whenever that system goes out my ac does not work. I can turn it on, but the compressor never kicks in and it just circulates air. Mine has been doing this over a year, and we haven't been able to figure it out, and don't have the money to take to have a dealer and let them run up a bill trying to figure it out. Mine comes and goes. Not sure why or what triggers it though.
In other words, if the temperature does not get up to operating temperature fast enough, the displays will blank out or stop operating and the A/C will be disabled until the condition is cleared. when the gasket goes on the valve in the thermostat, it leaves it in an open, or slightly open condition - the coolant flow thru the thermostat is thereby increased on startup, rather than opening gradually as the engine gets up to operating temperature.
What I encountered was that sometimes when first starting the car, the temperature guages (analog and digital) would both work initially - and I could watch the temperature rise via the digital gauge - then would suddenly go blank or actually "----". Yes, the heater will still pump out warm air, so don't let that lead you astray.
So change the thermostat.

What he said. Like a dumbass, I put a 160 degree t-stat in mine. Guess what? Thats right, Things don't work worth a flip if the engine stays cold for too long. When I put the stock one back in, it purred again. So if the temp guages flip out and the a/c won't run and it don't boil over, the T-stat is bad.(hung open)

I've been having a similar problem with my temp gauge and temp display. It only happens when the outside temp is at or below 55 degrees or so. When the car is cold, I start it and drive for approximately 12 minutes then the temp gauges stop working. If I turn the car off for about 45 minutes then restart, the temp gauges won't work for about 4 minutes, then come back on and work good the rest of the day. Occasionally after the stop/restart interval the gauges don't come back up for the rest of the day and that's when the CEL displays. The codes say it MIGHT be a bad thermostat or it could be a faulty temp sensor or the electrical connections. This is the 2nd winter this has been going on. In the summer it works fine.
My question is, where is the temp sensor on the 2007, 2.2L engine? I don't have a repair manual otherwise I would look it up. By the way, the engine doesn't overheat.
