noise is drivng me crazy
have had this now for over a year, 4 different shops with 4 different problems.
car has 85k, 07
have had a front end clank for the entire time. had it at one shop, they tell me its the struts, and being what I thought prior, a trusted shop, I had them do the struts, shocks and alignment. pull out of the parking lot and guess what same dang noise as before, though slightly better.
fast forward another couple months, I take it to another shop, look at it and tell me is the endlinks on the swaybar, figure its cheap enough go ahead and replace those.
still doing the same thing, now getting worse take it to another shop since now 2 others have yet to find the problem, now it is my lower control arm bushings. Sounds logical since I only hear it at low speeds usually going over bumps. what the he!! go ahead and put those on.
now at this point just about everything should be starting to be new again, and a few days later it starts to do it again. I take it to a 4th shop. they look it over for 2 days, cant find any source for the sound, tell me they tighten a bunch of loose nuts and bolts but also they are willing to not take my money this time as they know there is still something not right. Atleast I am not forking out more $$$ this trip. It seems to be quieter than before but the noise is still there when I hit bumps at low speed.
what the heck could be the problem? I am at my wits end trying to find something making this noise that 4 shops, myself and lots of money have yet to fix.

How is the noise that you are experiencing? It´s a loud knock after you pass over a bump or passing a pot hole? Your steering wheel is not alligned? I have something similar on my HHR with 45,000 miles, 2007. I´m planning to change the struts and the mounts- If you haven´t replaced these before (mounts), would be the time to replace these, however these are parts that worn with the time and require replacement like the tires. As Mike Says, a strut mount would be, or the lower ball joint.
