Noise in shifter?

Has anyone ever noticed a noise when taking your shifter out of park? This has just started in the last couple of weeks. It almost sounds like the black strip that covers the mechanics of the shifter is catching on something. And I can feel it in the shifter too. It only does it coming out of park. And I have also noticed that sometimes it seems to be stuck in park and it take several tries to get it out.

Anyone else or is this something unique to ours?

when you step on the brake there is a realease to get it out of park. maybe it is catching or not pulling back far enough.

try pressing on the brake a lil harder

i annoy my daughter sometimes waiting by pushing and letting off the brake to the beat of the music. an inside joke. i do it on her cobalt too. 19 yr olds are fun and easy to annoy.

I have to pull back on the safty tab twice in order for it to released from park. The only thing I hear is a loud "CLICK" from the trans/engine when shifting out of park. I only notice that when I'm in my garage and the noise bounces off of the walls.

I've also noticed the "sticking" in park. It's almost like the button isn't working properly sometimes.

Does your seem like the little plastic cover for the shifter mechanism, James?

I don't think it is anything dangerous or anything.. It is just annoying.

Here's a couple of GM TSB's on auto tranmission issues of sticking and noise. HHR is not listed but maybe one of these resembles your issue?

It does seem like it's the little plastic cover. I'm not going to take it to the dealer just for that, I'll wait until something a little more major comes up. You're right it is just annoying.
