The end play tolerance is 0.015 inch! If you can sense any looseness it is bad. That's 3 times.

I have installed a bad bearing out of the box, defects are possible.

So the one with the play you explain is the one that requires replacement. One pothole, or train tracks can damage a bearing hub.

You say you Haven't replaced the control arms yet. Looking at the diagram, it looks like a worn ball joint could possibly allow the 12 to 6 movement you're describing. Maybe it's also causing the geometry to be so wrong that the hub is howling?

Brand of wheel bearing? Mileage on wheel Bearing? Does the noise lessen when you hit the brake pedal?

So true!

I see this in warranty every month. Pothole damage or similar. The price you pay for lightweighting and low purchase price....

Did you ever find out what the cause was? I am having this very problem myself on a 2010 HHR with 135K miles.

If it sound like a hub, it probably is a hub.
If you really care you should start a new thread that includes your particular symptoms since this one was nebulous.

Sundance , I just replaced front hubs, that cured a lot of noises and squeals. I bought PowerStop hubs from RockAuto. Very good quality part.

If it sounds like a hub it probably is a hub? If I really care? Start a new thread to add to the myriad of threads to make searches even more difficult? .Impressive..

Of course, you ignored the rest of the sentence. All we have to work with is somebody said they had a noise that sounded like a bad hub. If some particulars had been supplied there may have been help.

"Having this very problem" really says you don't care much. What is the nature of this problem? Just how is your problem exactly like "it sounds like a hub" Did you follow any of the suggestions offered? Kenny Webster will not be back, because he was banned for being obnoxious.
