Odd noise

I've seen the other threads where folks were getting the howling or whistling noise while traveling down the road...mirror was causing I think was issue?

Well this noise is sort of like a medium pitched howl.....remember those plastic tubes you used to whip around in a circle and they would make sort of a funny howling noise? Sort of like in a wind tunnel? Well that is the noise I get if I go over let's say like 35.....sounds like it is coming fom the dead center of the hood of the car....any ideas?? Fuel pump? Seal at windshield...exhaust? Anyone else hear this or just your exhaust?

I'm perplexed

Oh one other thing...how is the wind noise in your HHR? Seems like I get a bit at the passenger side door/window...is ther a fix for that or do all HHR's have a bit of wind noise at highway speeds?

Thanks!

Howling noise

I believe that I have experienced a simular situation...though my diagnois of the symtoms led me to rotate the front tires to the back...now the noise moved from the front to the back...
I'm going to the dealer Friday to have it checked out, well give you an up date later.

See my thread posted " OEM Firestone tires"

Goose; Take a $ bill and close it in the door with it sticking out the top a little, pull it out there should be a little drag to it. go all along the door seal at top and front. It should feel the same. If it is loose or no drag you can put your knee at the top of the door panel to hold the door and pull the top of the door frame to you. The window should be up. A little at a time till the drag is better or the same all across the top and F/edge

Hmmm I just tried this...with the door shut I ran my finger between the door seal and the body from the inside...on the drivers side it was very tight and I could get just a little bit of my finger between the 2 with some effort..on the passenger side I could fit my finger between the 2 pretty easily....is this a seal problem or a door adjustment?? Fixable?

As far as the odd noise...it sound like it is coming more from under the hood..I can hear it even at 20 mph.....could be the tires but not sure...sounds have funny ways of not sounding where they are coming from sometimes

It's a door adjustment. if you take it to the dealer they will just pull the door like I said

Thanks Onetone! I think that is what I will do and pray they don't hose it up.

The other noise still stumps me...maybe it is related

Only noise I'm hearing is the occasional A/C growl, Guess I'll make an appointment soon.
