Ok, here is the deal for those with USB issues
As most of you have probably seen my posts about USB issues, here is some info directly from GM Engineering. Friday,my radio was replaced for this issue. They claim it's a version 2 radio. My Centon 8GB is working as of this moment.....last radio it worked for 4-5 days and then just stopped working. If I last a week with this,I am hoping its ok......however my PYN,Sansdisk Cruzer,Kingston and some other brand DONT work...even with the new radio.
So Engineering says its a compatibility issue as these radios were not tested. They know there is an issue with it but they dont understand why it works in other radios in other GM cars (Camaro,Malibu)and not the HHR radio....which is why there is a version 2.They also said that they are designed to work with Fat 16 and Fat 32 drives and that the current setup is outdated and in 2010 models with a USB port, the radios will now have hard drives to copy the mp3 files into the radio. So basically,if you have issues, you have to find a flash that works and stick with it.If not, then we are stuck with a half-ass radio.I am hoping my flash holds up with the new radio. I feel as customers ,we should not have to waste our money testing flashes as this should have been done at the factory. After working for GM for 23 years, it does not even surprise me........
