Hi-
I bought a 2006 Black LT2 when I was home on leave in Feb. Right now, it's sitting in my aunt's garage awaiting my return in early summer. Name: "BlackJack Express" after the missions we run here in country, and my dog "Jack", a 3 year old Black Lab (I killed two birds with one stone!).

Anyway, before I left I noticed the sandblasting on my rear quarters. After consulting the posts here, well, you know.

Sooooo...Does anybody have a COPY of the TSB for the running boards? Of course the local dealerships are giving my aunt the runaround. If you could shoot me a copy, I can send it to my aunt and she can rub the dealers nose in it for me. You know us soldiers are wealthy beyond imagination so the fact that I don't want to buy the yearly membership to the TSB site means I'm just greedy and am saving my money for my huge platinum based, diamond encrusted Chevy bowtie bling when I get home...
By the way, we appreciate your support-
Thanks for the Tanks!-

Recalls for '08s

Just traded in the '06 HHR LT for the HHR SS and I received the recall for the '06. Does anyone know if there will be a recall for the '08s? My recall for the '06 has a deadline for the fix on the last day in April. Kinda tight for time if the '08 is the same.

08's are included unless you have the side curtain airbags. You would get another recall notice for your 08 if it is included. Since they discovered the problem, I'm sure all those made after that date will have the "padding" installed at the factory. I don't have the side curtain bags and have not received a notice as of yet. Mine was built at the beginning of Dec of 07.

I got mine last night in the mail for my '06... double check that deadline, mine said April 30 2009

I was going to do it when I drop it off for my next oil change in June/July

Cokeybill.....

Not sure if your dealer will do the repair on the SS with an authorization for a different vehicle. I believe the dealer needs to turn in one of the 2 sheets of paper sent to you, to get paid by GM.

I would just sign off and mail the indicated form back to GM, as is suggested if you don't own the vehicle any longer.

Besides, the Dealer may do the recall on your traded vehicle, thus invalidating your authorized paperwork (tracked by VIN).

Only in Canada is there a deadline since it is a voluntary recall by GM in Canada. 2008's are involved in the recall. The letter has no bearing on whether the dealer does the recall. We check the GMVIS system on all recalls. If the VIN shows the recall we do it, if doesn't we don't. Here are the VIN break points. Of course only vehicles without side curtain air bags (roof rail) are involved.

Does this mean that build dates after aug '07 will have them intalled from the factory?

not necessarily, but if you experience the same problem. I don't see why GM wouldn't help out, but I guess that depends on your dealer. I will have to look to see if the 2008's at work have the guards.

I had noticed a plastic shield on mine which is only about 2 1/2" high right across the bottom of the condenser and figured it was for protection. I had mentioned it is a thread someplace asking if others had it, but got no answers, that was right after I got my HHR. It still doesn't look like it will give much protection, my advise would still be to install a lower grille
08 built in Dec. Also didn't get the head cushioning recall since since it was made after Chevy found there was a problem.
Thanks ChevyMgr for posting the vin on those affected in 08
