Subject: Hard Brake Pedal, Extra Effort Needed to Depress Brake Pedal on Cold Start-up (Add Auxiliary Vacuum Pump)

Models: 2008-2009 Chevrolet HHR SS

Built Prior to January 2009 and Equipped with Automatic Transmission

Attention: Proceed with this bulletin ONLY if a customer has brought their vehicle in for this concern. For vehicles in inventory or in the service department for an unrelated customer concern, review Bulletin # 08-05-22-001A to reprogram EBCM built prior to and including VIN Breakpoint 8S653008.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition
Some customers may comment that extra effort may be needed to depress the brake pedal on cold start-up.

Correction
Add an auxiliary vacuum booster pump to the brake system using the procedure listed below.
So this is just another ECBM program? I have mine done twice already and if this is a new one I will bring it back in since this was done months ago. I think the problem is more then a ECBM problem. It is terrible in cold weather and I have to let the car warm up every time before I drive it. That is not necessarily a bad thing in cold weather but if I should be able to start the car and go.

Sorry about that. When I saw ECBM I thought it was another program that they have already done twice to my car. If I call my dealership I can have them refer to this bullitin #09-05-22-001 right? This is not an official recall is it?

This, as with all TSBs, is not a recall. And the dealership still has to verify the condition before ordering the parts, unless they have on record that they verified it before. Some dealers may just order the parts without seeing the vehicle, but that's up to them. You might try calling the Service Manager.

'Cept for the people who really are angling for a newer car, have buyer's remorse, or some kind of payoff for their pain and suffering, etc.

To sail it, you would have to launch it into the water first

I guess I shoulda explained before, I done trashed it after I got my Aeroforce gauge anyways. Eric how's your's working? I love mine. There was a guy at one time that was looking for one in Canada he said his was imperial and wanted a US model gauge.....

I don't know for sure what the programming does, but I think it programs the BCM software, such as voltage to the gauge, not the gauge it self. So I would think that your gauge should still be good.
