Thanks soo much. I am very new to the taking care of the car thing. Will keep close track on oil changes from now on! May choose to replace solenoids anyway.

I had the same code last week and just changed the intake solenoid. All is well. The part was cheap at my local Chevy dealer.

With P0010 alone, changing only the intake solenoid valve is completely defensible. The only reason to change it is because you think the solenoid part of the assembly failed, probably a fried coil and an open circuit. Not much reason to think the other one is about to do the same thing. If you were changing it because of a P0011 that would be because maybe the valve part of the assembly is gummed or otherwise malfunctioning. Then, the case for changing both is stronger, as the other one is probably in a similar condition.

Same for P0013/P0014, exhaust side.

That does not mean I would disagree with Oldblue’s advice to Hhrhelp to just change them both while you’re in there, because of the miles. But with three different Ecotecs now I’ve gotten away with changing only one based on a P0010 or P0013. Had P0011 or P0014 been involved I would have absolutely changed both.

I had P0011, replaced the valve. While the engine was warming up P0014 popped up.

My P0014 was caused by this

A stretched timing chain! The front guide was broken.
