Glad they are not your primary one. I'm thinking you had a vacume line or something freeze somehow.

Take the filter and bang it against your hand. Did you get any oil on it? I've done that to new ones and got oil. GM's hate for the K&N is not unfounded. They don't filter as well as the paper filters (and once they are clogged up enough to filter as well they don't flow any better) and they mess up the mass. GM's had enough of it.

As for the oil messing up the position sensors, that's kinda weird. I didn't think any of that was exposed in the TB tract. GM actually said that they are or was it a dealer?

Saw them on my trip. My dealer is usually pretty good at fixing the problem at hand and skipping over any problem I don't tell them about. Pretty unfortunate.

I did bang it, rubbed the filter with a clean white cloth, and didn't get any oil on it. My MAF is still clean. No problems with it that I can tell.

More than one dealer has told me that oil getting into the throttle body can cause this problem. Probably causing the trottle to stick or drawing more power to move it, which is probably where the error is comming from. After it's "unstuck" the error code clears.

I'll have to remember that. On my LSx engines I didn't see how oil could get to the sensors. I learn something new every day! Thanks for the follow up.

too much blowby in the crankcase, oil is getting Past the piston rings and being sucked thru the hose, nothing to do with k&n WIERD STILL!!! good luck does not sound good tho!!!!

I'm not sure how to route one since I'm new to the Ecotec and LNF engines, but a catch can or an "air/oil separator" would help keep the oil out of the intake tract. I used one in my old car and that did wonders.
