paint drip
On one of my doors there is a paint drip on one of the corners of the window. I currently don't have a pic of it now. I took it to the dealer this morning and stated this problem (along with a list of other problems; malfunctioning cd player, visible primer on the hatch, broken auto-shifter button ..I couldnt remove the key!!!!, and the factory installed killswitch relay is malfunctioning). The guys tried to blame the visible primer on my recent trip to the bodyshop . I has the front fender and bumper worked on thats it. The HHR was waxed and buffed, but there is no way the body shop ruined my paint. It was faulty when I bought the damn truck!
Back to the paint drip. The Service guys at the dealer stated that a factory paint job is hard to match due to the "processes" the cars go through at the factory. They stated that the paint drip probably wouldnt be a problem in the future since its under the clear coat. What do you folks think?

Yep they are giving you a bunch of Bull. My right side got repainted with no drip, streaks and it perfectly matches the left and hood. Maybe you need to find a dealer who ain't got their head up the a$$.. Just my 2cents. Hope you get it all worked out..

Paint sags and runs seldom cause a problem over time. They are appearance issues only. Also, a good painter can repair and blend a sag without repainting the entire panel. In general, you are alot better off from a long term durability standpoint if you don't cut into the original factory paint.

I agree that the dealer is probably giving you some unexplained reason why they wouldn't paint it for the problem you have. If you were to talk to someone in the paint and body department, chances are you would get a better understanding for what the service writer was trying to get across. If this is a small drip under the clear and only a slight cosmetic issue which is what it sounds like. Factory paint and clear is factory paint and clear, your not going to strip that and have the same quality painted surface. If I were you, if it's not a big ugly spot that’s just driving you crazy I'd leave it alone. Down the road while it's still under warranty check to be sure it's not flaking or peeling. If at that point it is then you would want it repaired.
