paint drip
#21
My HHRs rear bumper was repainted with a month of ownership. My wifes MPV had several items repapinted with the first few months (long story) and they dealership repainted all of that. No issues. Everyone here likes to complain about "thin" paint. Well that is the robots. A good painter with a gun will do a better job.

Listen- I said I'VE noticed some shoddy stuff on these cars...I didn't say every single HHR ever made had something wrong with it however there have been some that have what I would call less then great quality control. helhedded's HHR is a PERFECT example.
I swear to God that some of you act like someone has just insulted your mother if a critical point is brought up on the HHR....it is only a car for crying out loud
On my HHR for example...rear passenger door doesn't line up with the running board..sticks out a bit...on the rubber trim on the rear windows there is some edges that didn't quite get cut correctly and there are little triangular pieces sticking out..on the interior I just noticed a couple of things...the trim around the cubby at the bottom of the center console is starting to peel up a bit...also the trim or whatever they use on the rearview mirror is drooping a bit.
Not the end of the world and not something to make me go wanting to dump the car...just HONEST observations...also the whole thing on dealer installed stuff..if you really read what I said was whether it was dealer OR straight from the factory. I don't think you need state the obvious that Chevy has no control if the dealer does a half assed installation. And speaking of that..an HHR on the lot where I bought the car had a factory spoiler on it...a good chunk of the pad that the spoiler rests on was sticking out from under where it was supposed to be hidden...dealer or factory fault? who cares but it is still poor quality control whoever was supposed to QC it

Well after waiting on a GM rep to show up for almost 3 months, I finally met with him at the dealership this morning. He saw the problems (paint drip, and thin paint on the hatch), and immediately said they will have to fix it. No bull****, no arguments, no questions. He made the service deapartment manager feel like a boob, because the service manager was the one who originally said that it was my fault and that someone must have worked on the truck's paint after I bought it. haha
Now I just need to clean it up real nice for the body shop so they can see the problem areas. I plan on taking it in next Monday morning. There is one concern though, I'm a bit worried about the long-term affects from them fixing the paint drip. They aren't going to re-paint the whole door, just the drip spot. I'm a bit worried about the shop being able to match the factory clear.
