Paint Issues

Maybe its because its an '06 but the paint in certain areas is chipped. Such as on the hood (maybe from a rock as I was driving) but in stranger areas like the top edges of the door panels. Also the area where I circled in the photo (If the pic doesnt show its in front of the rear tires). The area in the photo is where the chipping is worst. I understand that maybe its from driving and debris hitting the area all the time but is there anything that I can do to fix it besides repainting this 'bad boy'.

Thanks!

Photo is not my car, just an example of location of my 'troubles' http://www.flickr.com/photos/8211985...ream/lightbox/

Because of the fenders the HHR is known to get chips where you circled. I have an 09 and the hood is chipped on it as well.
As far as a fix you can try to find some touch up pens. Lots of online places sell touch up paint matched to your specific color code. I have never used one myself.

This is my first and only car so far..

..so I'm not sure if this happens to many other cars but I feel that the paint shouldnt be chipping this much. Haha oy vey.

Thank you though! I'm going to look into that

This only my third car but this car does seem to chip pretty easily compared to my others. Since I do a lot of highway driving, I also have a bra I use for the front bumper.

Mine seems to chip easily as well. I think is the paint that was used on our inexpensive little cars. Some day I will have mine repainted with something more durable. Two tone may look good on my little panel.

But the paint has an excellent shine to it. Looks like good paint. Can't say I've ever seen a faded HHR.

Water based automotive paints don't seem to be as thick or durable as in the old days.

The paint has lasted 6 years so far with the recent chips, maybe it'll last me another 6 years. I wouldn't mind having my HHR for the rest of my life if I keep up on maintenance

This is true.....i had an 06 Spring Edition HHR with red paint and i traded it in mid 2010 and a lady in the same park i live in bought it. So now i have the pleasure to look at it everyday and see how stupid i was to get rid of it. The red paint is still beautiful and vibrant. ugggghhhh sometimes i wonder why i do the things that i do.
