Parts Availability......

This is totally ridiculous........2008 HHR SS I took it in for service in December before Christmas........Complained about Parking Brake not holding......and Parking brake Handle Binding........They told me it needed to be replaced (handle) and ordered the part! Part came in in March........Wrong Part! reordered at the same time, they ordered parts for Brake fix.........as of today 5 months later no Emergency Brake handle, no brake fix parts.........I understand the problem! but this is nuts! I have no working E-Brake.
And suggestions on what I should do next???

It's going to get worse after June 1st. There are no other suggestions. As for the wrong part being ordered, that's the dealers fault.

Sorry to hear about this but we might as well devote a thread to not being able to obtain parts. It can be a thread for everyone to vent or rant.

So you think that the VW Jetta is going to be better? you might want to go hang out at the Jetta forum for a while to see. JMHO.

It's all good tom, to each their own and I hope you love your VW. You've been a good forum member and I thank you for that!

I'm really surprised to hear this. Bought my SS on 03/26/2009. Drove it for a while, then I encountered the brake problem. Parts dept ordered the necessary parts for the brake fix, and got all of them within a week.

I'd look for another dealership IMHO, not a new car.

I bought a brand new VW GTI in 1986. Ordered straight from the factory. I really liked the car.... when it was not in the shop for service... Car spent 16 days in the garage waiting to replace a defective $0.39 synchro ring in the tranny that destroyed 2nd and 3rd gear. Also had several other problems after that, mostly electrical problems. The car also had uncorrectable rear wheel camber that used up the inside thread of the rear Continental tires in less than 10000Km. The outside of the rear tire wasn't even making contact with the ground. The car had been engineered this way so I was told.

Also went to the service department for an oil change, and left the car there in the morning. Went to pick-up the car in the afternoon. Was told it was ready. Paid for the oil change. When I got home, decided to check the oil, just to make sure everything was OK..... dirty filter... dirty oil.... Hummmkay... Lessons learned... never leave your car at a dealership unattended. Anyway, I got rid of my problem after 6 months.

I had a bad experience with VW, however, i know a few people that wouldn't drive anything, but VW.

If you are getting a TDI do not take it to the dealer! VW Mechanics can't work on TDI's. They will screw it up
