The parts issues can and in the future will hit all makes and brands.

Car companies all are having moneyu issues and suppliers are feeling the effects. Supplies will be down and wait time will rise.

As for issues on cars they all have them from brand to brand to model to mode. Some may show it a little more than others.

VW is coming off a bad run of quality bu they are getting back to where they need to be.

The fact is cars are mechainical and things will happen.

Often like in this case I willing to think the dealer messed up ordering. It seems to be happening at more dealer of late. I went to a dealer not long ago to find a plastic rivet and after 45 min the guy gave up and would not let me check their bins. I went another dealer where he brought out about 8 different common GM rivets and he had the one I need in 5 min.

We have a lack of good parts departments in my area and I don't think it is just my area alone.

LOL........Since 1999 I have owned 7 TDI's..........one of them was in the shop for 3 months Coolant Migration........VW was charged 13,000 in warranty repair to fix the car! It was sold when I got it back.........
I am well aware not to take my VW back to the dealer........
My HHR was purchased and is serviced by Sport Chevrolet an old and established Chevrolet dealer and specializing in HP cars........
Tuesday, I am going to start pressing to get my car fixed.........and then I will sell it.

Tom, I took my car in with a blown turbo 3 weeks ago. Since it was going to be in shop anyway, I asked them to install brake fix. They ordered the parts and had them installed in less than a week. Still waiting on the turbo, but you should have been able to get the brake fix (pump). BTW, son-in-law has been waiting for parts for F350 Superduty for a month. Guess the parts situation even affects the "more healthy" companies.

sorry to hear about all the HHR SS troubles, when I first joined the forum, I was a gripper for sure and found that I was looking for problems to arise(paranoid posts), and now with the troubles with GM, I think we all are taking a step back and scratching our heads, but I accept that its a car, and nothing more now, although I do hope that if nothing else our SS's will be lovingly gazed upon in the years to come, and if the majority of the SS's wind up as BBQ grils it will just be that much more fun at swap meets. again, problems aside I think there is a place in Auto History for our cars. Now if we could just get one into Leno's garage you would think twice about getting rid of yours.

PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR

Brake Fix
Poor Paint
Throws Codes
loose clamps
bad tire sensors
poor fitting headliner
super cheap floormats
.....
I could keep going, but if I do I might re-consider keeping it!

PS
Half the satisfaction of owning a vehicle, is the relationship between you and your dealer/service dept, so in a way I don't blame you. when my wife and I go out, and get sh*&y service somewhere, there is no 2nd time. wish you well with the VW

If you haven't been to this sight http://www.tdiclub.com/ check it out. I found a really good "shade tree" mechanic who fixed my VW after the dealership. The guys on there were way above me in diesel knowledge.

Nice! The guys on there are extremely knowledgeable but half the time I had no idea what they were talking about. I was a deer in the head lights.
