My last soap box of the day.

As you may know from my other post, I took the kid into the dealership today. On my list was the passenger airbag cover.

I guess someone else had the same complaint and they had it looked at by GM rep at that time. The cover is not defective therefore GM is not going to replace it.

PLEASE if you have this problem on your HHR, PLEASE, please, please take it in to the dealer and complain, and call 800-222-1020 and report the problem to Chevy.

3 out of the 6 HHR's on the lot had the same issue so it's a great tool to use against the service writer in trying to prove the problem. Also doesn't seem to effect those with the cashmere (spelling?) interior.

GM is not going to address this unless we as owners are yelping about it.

remember that a new dash will be installed not a 5min. job. think of all the loose screws and rattles that can come with just a little off color dash pad !!
put a dash pad on it. you might open a can of worms that can't be closed

The whole dash has to be redone just to replace the cover to the airbag? It looks like it can just be popped out and replaced?

I am super annoyed with this! I'm not really this anal about these kinds of things but a lot of us seem to have this issue. I think I would be ok with it if the imprint (not just a discoloration for me) was at least symetrical on my dash but it only looks indented on the left side only.

I dunno? Call or not it's up to you guys - I'd like to have mine fixed.

ive taken the pass air bag out you need to take 2 10mm nuts off the bottom above the glove box on the inside a pain in the ass and then you have to pop it out from the top with some pressure make sure you diconnect your battery and unplug you air bag

What it probably is a rectangular rib or change of thickness on the backside of the plastic face creating a slight sink-mark on the front. There is also a potential of stress marks happening on the plastic if it has the same condition, but was pulled out of the mold too soon.

This is very interesting. I've got the same marks. I've noticed them for a couple of months now. I'm kind of picky about things like that.

Same here. Never noticed them until mentioned, but they are faintly there (I've had the HHR for one month).

Seeing as the majority of HHR's has this, I would think it is a problem. Don't know if the problem is during manufacturing of this cover or the way it is installed or what. All I know is that it is a problem on these vehicles. Is it a safety issue? No, probably not but it is an appearance problem. Sure this isn't a high end car and I don't expect everything to be perfect but this is in plain sight, it can't be hidden.

It's time to get GM to do something about it because this sucks!
