Nope, I'm not an angry technician or service writer. I'm just someone who's tired of having to wait a week to get an appointment at a dealer to get my transmission looked at because someone else is having their airbag cover looked over by the technician, senior technician, service writer, service department manager, dealership general manager, district service manager, and the regional service manager.

People, if you can't take looking at it from a different point of view, go ahead, put me in your ignore list. First of all, the discoloration probably isn't really discoloration. It's more likely that it's just the expansion of the module underneath it that's causing the outline of the module to appear in the plastic. That's called reflectivity. I bet if you put some Armour All or other kind of plastic shine on it, it'd be ten times worse. My point is, get up from your computer, go walk around the block and shed a couple pounds, and get over it. This "problem" does not make the HHR a "****ty" product. It doesn't surprise me at all that there's a small crease on my airbag cover because every single passenger airbag cover I've seen where the airbag is on TOP of the IP has this issue. The HHR probably has it with the least degree of severity of the ones I've seen.

Oh, and yes, I know I'm a "newb" on THIS forum, but I've owned my HHR for exactly a year today and I know most of you from the "other" forums. You know that I have a low tolerance for BS, and quite honestly, that's exactly what this thread is about.

Mines does not have this, nor does my wife's '03 Mazda. My '99 Accord did not have it, nor the '94 dolSol or '95 Odyssey. COme to think about it, none of the 5,000 plus vehiles we lease have this issue either. ANd we have them all from the three US manufactors. Does that mean anything? NOPE.

Someone has an issue with their vehicle that is covered under warranty. It is no different than your tranny problem, or waterleaking into the cab. It's a problem, yes it's cosmetic. But if you paint started to peel tomorrow, you just gonna innore that? I hightly doubt it.

You probably get that "lifetime" wax job from the dealer and believe it's actually good for life.....

Crafty is entitled to his opinions whether or not you agree. I agree with him to some extent. Like I said in the second post my HHR has had that mark on the airbag cover since day one. I don't consider it a problem or issue or whatever. I bought the vehicle knowing that it was there. I have seen it on a few other lower priced GM vehicles like my former Sunfire and my grandmothers Cavalier so to me it seems to be common on lower priced GM vehicles. We should be thankful that the quality of our vehicles interior is as good as it is given the initial cost of the vehicle. We're talking about an econobox wagon not a 7 series BMW or Benz S-Class.
