plastic wear patches

Hi everyone! 1st time i`m here. I`m a newby") I have a 2006 LS that has had no running boards on from new. I just had them installed. I think it finishes the vehicle off perfectly. The problem is that there are plastic patches on the body just ahead of the rear wheel to protect the body from stone chips. They are sand blasted a bit and now that i have the boards on i would like to take these off. Does anyone know how they come off. I think they might be glued on.

I'm guessing that they are like a decal, sticky tape. But I'm sure someone here will know for sure.

I'm sure you're talking about the stone guards...I left mine on for extra protection...but they are held on with double face tape. Just slide some floss behind them and use sawing motion back and forth a little and they should come right off. Then use goo-gone or denatured alcohol to remove the sticky junk left over.

Here's mine with the guards left on.

They were put on with a 3M type tape. A little elbow grease and the residual tape will clean off. Removed mine after I made some running boards.

A heat gun will facilitate the removal. Once heated they are easy to remove.

GM calls them a Rear Side Door Lower Molding.

3M eraser wheel will also remove the leftover adhesive very easily and easier on the fingers.....
