I know , I just redid mine once last February, then again in December and then new front cover and valve cover gaskets last weekend!!
bu better safe then sorry!
I’m sorry, honey I need to replace a bad TC at about $200.00 is much better then , But honey the TC broke and the pistons hit the valves and the engine is toast and LE9’s aren’t available right now, so I’m going to drop in an LS7 and a 6 speed manual transmission and 9” posi Curry rear axle, only about $25,000 , remember my ‘48 Anglia back in the early 70’s??

Not exactly mine, and that’s not me in the photo, however I did paint mine Corvette Chrome Yellow! 327 SBC M22 4 speed 4:11 posi rear axle

Also, when investigating misfires, a compression test would be advised.

Yes I am anxious to get this car running right. I will do what I gotta do.

Just out of curiosity, why are my posts being edited?

Never mind I figured it out, he corrected an emoji for me. I thought I was angering people, I don’t want to get booted from here. I haven’t had this much fun since listening to Elvis records backwards and hearing the hidden messages

Yes, I didn't find a "cheesing" smilie, figured that one was close to what you wanted

The timing marks should be different on each so I would think they wouldnt match up to time it correctly since the keyways wouldnt let them rotate to line up

I have it torn down now. I put number one on tdc before I started, then I removed the timing chain. I am working on getting the balance chain lined up all while the #1 cylinder is still at tdc. I assume since it’s at top dead center, as long as I get the proper marking on the balance chain where it belongs on the crank and both shafts, this should put me where I need to be?

this job won’t be completed until at least Wednesday. I have to go to work, I need to buy a set of snap ring pliers so I can reset the cam tensioner, and I ran out of good old fashioned attitude

That slack you cited when turning backward was when it skipped a tooth. Don't ask how I know.

Snap ring, cam tensioner rest? A vice and a pair of pliers should do it. Twist and push.
