How can you be sure the battery is good? Go to your auto parts store and get a free battery load test, post up the numbers here.

While you're there, get a free charging system test also.

Look at this and also have the alternator by itself tested. Could have a problem with the field windings or possibly the connection to the windings.

Based on his other threads/posts, I'll guess it's all related.
Yes. Get the entire charging system checked out. Sounds like this car may have multiple problems.

All 3 threads about starting/charging are now merged. Looks like this isn't the first time your threads were merged. Let's keep it here. It's very difficult to help you when you post all over, and are offered suggestions, and then you start a new thread.

I'm leaving your transmission thread out of this for now. We don't know if it's related, please update in that thread.

Thanks FMG.

Thanks everyone sometimes I rely too much on forums like this when diagnosis is rather easy for this just with my other issues I’ve had I want to make very sure. But after driving home took it to advanced auto and battery was low but tested good and alternator is testing weak and didn’t pass so gotta replace it. Once I left there it finally went into power saving mode so apparently these things can get ya a good 30ish Miles or so before your battery is dead. . I just replaced the starter on this and had it shut down once and had it reset ecm so I’m wondering if this thing just has electric issues in general and the previous owner traded it in and it got passed onto me lol but it does have 188 k miles on it so these things could very well just be due for replacements. Replacing this seems like a pain in the butt but I’ll figure it out. If anyone has any tricks on swapping this out The easiest way I would appreciate ya! Learning a lot but I’m a rookie! Lol

Okay here is my final update. Checked all cables and connections they seemed to be good. Took alternator back to store and got a new one. Installed started driving and here is the check charging system message again. Said the hell with it kept driving. Would not lose power and after a few min the message went off. For three days it would come on consistently but shut right back off. When checking voltage it would be around 11.7 or so and go from there to 12 then drop back down. Even tho the battery tested good it was almost 5 years old I went ahead and replaced it. So far couple hours of driving and no messages at all. Voltage is around 12.57 when running but it stays a consistent 12.57 and does not go up and down. Hopefully we’re good to go!
