But in this case the creator of the thread told me their child had turned the switch to "on" and the mother did not notice that when she got to work. There is always a bit is mystic when a child is involved, maybe child proof switches will be next on cars or fingerprint recognition features. I see stuff on cars today that 40 yrs ago I never in my wildest dreams would of though of.

I have the lights on auto, but when you change to manual setting, I hear a distinct chime telling me the lights are on.

Thanks for sharing the solution and which fuse was blown because I had this same exact issue. Dead battery, jumped car, blown fuse. Seems poorly designed.

Jumping from under the hood is pretty straight forward, as mentioned by others. Just DO NOT CONFUSE THE 2 TERMINALS ON THE FUSE BOX. The one MOST FORWARD IS THE ONLY ONE TO USE FOR THE POSITIVE CONNECTION. The negative is connnected, as stated, to the marked nut housing on the drivers side strut.
