Sounds like it could be. There are mutable threads you can read about for more info by using the search box at the top of the page.

There may be a recall coming but I have not read what cars are involved. If you repair it your self there is a how to thread with pictures that will walk you through the repair. Just keep your receipt for possible reimbursement later

Odd. His profile says his car is an '03 Tbird.

So, exactly what kind and year car are we asking about?

We have found the person who has not heard about the recall!

Call your local GM Service Department and make an appointment.

as I recall, the recall is based on if the light and code has triggered, and if the PS motor has cut out, go to your dealership for verification by VIN and repair.

Then, just replace the motor yourself - it's cheap, and it's a real easy job. There is a full How-to article here that gives the details.

Just make sure you hold onto the receipt in case you are later eligible for reimbursement from GM.

Somebody just gave me a boatload via PM saying that it is now covered on all HHRs, and I should get informed. It seems to be changing daily. It may not be a "recall" on all models, but I seem to remember something about "extended lifetime warranty". I am frequently wrong.

You may find useful info in the Power Steering Recall thread in the recall forum.

A boatload of what?

I read the info too but don't recall seeing "all" HHR's. I particularly noticed that it said turbo models were not included in the recall.
