More than likely it's the power assist motor and there is an extended warranty on that part (Don't use the word recall)

X2. Just contact your dealer as they will replace the motor at no charge. Have your VIN number handy as they will need it to check on the warranty status.

Did you not get a letter from GM regarding the extended warranty for the steering motor?

FYI. Doesn't matter the year, mileage or original owner or not because for now it is an extended lifetime warranty.
Contact your local dealer as noted above.

If it's an SS, then there's no warranty.

I bought the car wrecked from an auction. Would the extended warranty still apply?

Probably not if it's got a salvage title. But, you could contact a dealer and ask.

Thank you so much. Since I'm here I have another question. Every now and then when I'm driving my abs light on the dash comes on. Along with the squiggly car light. The dash computer thingy will say service traction and esc is off. Then after a bit it goes back to normal..

A bum hub or cam shaft solenoids, there should be codes for that.
a low voltage battery will also do that or loose ABS connections at the hubs

Thank you. I called the dealer this morning and gave them my cars vin #. They told me there were no extended warranty or recalls. But ya, even if there was they wont touch a salvage title. So stupid. Only damage was cosmetic. Even still, it shouldn't matter. Anyway, thank for the help .
