Well it’s working so far. If it happens again I’ll go back down to the dealership and be more assertive.

Thank you again

Hey let me tell you again how much I appreciate the advice and responses. Was the tech really misrepresenting the fact that the power steering motor has to be electronically recalibrated to work properly? The car seems to drive fine with no issues, or was I just lucky?

Ive had the EPS motor replaced 3 times now, the tech did not connect to the OBD II port, so I’m thinking there is no learning process, I could be wrong.

If it is an SS, yes, needs calibrating.

If you did not turn the steering wheel when no motor was installed, no. You may get ESC warnings because the steering wheel position is part of that.

Not to mention the recall/extended warranty on the power steering motor on HHR.
Or that any big box parts store can read the codes for free.
The moto goes for around $100, the torque sensor is part of the steering column.

Yes, thank you, the electric power steering motor for the SS model was never involved in a recall or extended warranty replacement. That and it’s way different from the LS/LT motor

And for comparison here’s the LS/LT motor

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/.../+module,10798
About $300.00 different

The six years are here, I moved the thread posts from the guy with pickup truck to a new thread as he does not have an HHR
