I talked with two dealers today and explained to them about the warranty extension for 2006-2008 and early '09 HHRs. I was told by both that there was no coverage/warranty or recalls showing for my VIN. Made an appointment with my original dealer for service on Friday. I will show them the letter and explain again. What about '06-'09 replacement of EPS motor for life don't they get. Apparently they are not seeing the GM Bulletin 14119.

If you don't get anywhere with them, just escalate it directly to GM - they will straighten it out with the dealer. The number to call is in your Owners Manual.

I have a letter from GM dated August 2014 stating my 2007 per my VIN is included in Safety Special Coverage 10413 and the replacement has been extended for the life of the vehicle.

I talked with GM and they contacted the dealership.Still no special coverage for the power steering motor. On Friday the dealer called and they found out the steering rack was sticking and showing a code for the steering column. Strange how they got a code but I never had any CEL or DIC warnings. The new motor I put in was fine. They hope that replacing the rack and pinion will clear up the steering column code. As it is, it's $939 for the rack replacement and alignment. Car should be ready for pick up on Monday afternoon.

I have an 06 HHR, and have had the power steering get harder several times, and 2 weeks ago it totally went out for about 10 minutes at idle. Bad time-my son was about to take his driving road test. Luckily it came back on and has been fine since.
But-I am concerned. And from what I got out of reading the warranty extension, it only covers 2009-2010 HHR's. Am I missing something?

Yes, you are. Try looking in the GM Recall Campaigns sub-forum.
You probably threw the letters away, they do look like junk mail.

My '07 just did it for the first time last week.

I still need to take it in for the ignition switch recall and am hoping I can have both things done at the same time but concerned that the dealer may not do the steering unless there is a stored code.

Does it throw a code?

Maybe. Maybe not. Just tell the dealer that you HAVE experienced a problem. Most should believe you and let GM make good on the replacement.

Fwiw. Have you contacted the dealer to have the ignition parts ordered ? As stated before on this site, you have to have the parts ordered by your dealer per your cars VIN.
