Power steering problem 2008 HHR

I have read numerous posts about the power steering problem I am having and looks like this is not a recall item for the 2008 HHR. My power steering works for a brief period when the car is turned on but the dash signal goes on and cuts off the power steering and I am then steering a horse and buggy, real tuff.
Does the power steering pump motor need replacing or the sensor? One note said to check to see that the steering wheel control buttons are working while the power steering is out. The control buttons are working. I can use your experience to avoid getting shafted and get the problem fixed the first time.
Thanks for your support.
Also has anyone tried the GF performance chip advertised for $69.00 does it really increase fuel milage and power?
Sounds great put has anyone experienced this miracle?

Performance chips enrich the seller at the purchasers expense.

The EPS sounds like the motor is overheating. Call a GM service department, you may be lucky. The part only costs around $110 and takes an hour to do. Check the "how to/ tutorial" section for a step by step.

I recently had the EPS go out on my wife, not a pretty event. I took it in to my usual service.place. They quoted me $1300 to replace the entire column, plus $150 to reflash the ECM. Following the how to section on here, I will be performing the motor replacement myself and saving $1200. I recommend you at least consider DIY.

After you replace the EPS motor yourself, I would suggest that you look for a new "usual service place".

I'm so sorry that you're experiencing theses issues with your vehicle. I would like to do more research on your concern. Could you please private message me your name, address, vehicle identification number, and current mileage?

Thank you,
