Problems with the breaks on my HHR

Hi! I have a 2006 Chevy HHR and am having some issues with the breaks. It may be a bit difficult to describe but I'm going to give it a shot! For the past week my breaks have been squishy and going to the floor. Once they are to the floor I am at a complete stop but this problem is intermittent. Sometimes the breaks are firm and stop perfectly, then they get squishy and to the floor at the next stop. Its very stressful as I never know when they will work or eventually stop working. About 3 weeks ago we replaced my ABS Module and master break cylinder so we know those are not a factor in the issue. We also blead the breaks very well and up until now the breaks have been great. Pads, rotors, and all are good too. I am not losing any break fluid and there are no visible leaks as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Did you bleed them to HHR specs (RR, LF, LR, RF) or the old way (furthest first, closest last)? There is a difference

We didn't. Would that cause the problem to happen some time later?

You didn't bleed the brakes at all ? If not, then there's your problem.

FYI. It's B*R*A*K*E*S as in brakes.......... Break is another word.

Did you bother to look at the rear brakes? Did you program the new EBCM? Did you check the booster and the vac hose/check valve? Are the calipers hanging up?

I don't think the order of bleed makes a lot of difference; mainly a point for debates.

Rear and front brake pads were inspected and are at 50% life. We did not reprogram the EBCM it was a used ABS module that we just put in 2-3 weeks ago and we do not have the scanner/program to reprogram. We just disconnected the battery to reset the computer which has been working for 2-3 weeks no problems. The master cylinder is new but we are not sure how to check the vac hose/valve on the booster. Can you clarify what you mean by "calipers hanging up"?

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder? Are the rear brakes adjusted properly?

Yes we bench blead the master. We didn't touch the rear brake adjustments.
