problems with idle on remote start?

Hey I was just acquired 09 HHR 2.2 ls...
My problem is I just noticed that when I start it with remote start that it either idles rough or misses.... But if I start it with the key it doesn't do it.???? I have a scanner and I get no codes.... Plus I just got it back from the dealership for recall work on elctronic power steering assit... which shouldn't have any effect on the idle as far as I can see... But.. this is my first HHR so who knows i'm used to simple cars... Any info would be great... Thank You for your time

Brian

Is the vehicle hard to start at all? Just asking because the first sign of a failing battery for me was that the car actually died out when remote started but would start using the key in the cabin; had to do with something regarding poor voltage output by the battery

No the vehicle is not hard to start, but the guy at the dealership said that my battery needed to be charged..... he said maybe drive it around for awhile.... I laughed and said ok...... never heard that before... I don't think the battery has ever been replaced... But as with all new cars you have to learn all over again... Why would the battery cause it to run rough on remote start and not with the key? I have like 3 dif. chargers... and meters... maybe i should test the battery....

I'm thinking the battery has low voltage, at this age (7 years) it could be a dying cell.
Either have the battery and charging system checked out, places like AutoZone usally don't charge for this service.
Strange the dealer told you to drive it, the alternator hardly keeps the electrical system alive let alone charge a low battery.
Our little Trucklets are not very happy with anything less than 12.3 volts at the battery before load

ty for the info... I can test it at my house... which I will do in the morning... G/F took it to work and left me with the gas hog lincoln navigator... So anything at or below 12.3 you think is causing my problem? and the only reason I brought it to dealership is to get recall work done.. otherwise I do all the work on my cars at my house if I can.... Once again I appeciate all the help for whoever has tips...

I have never tried but I would think it would fit but does the side post battery you want to use have a vent.

Hhr is designed to have the battery vented to the outside.

Did you get your new battery hooked up yet? Low voltage can cause all kinds of problems, including misfires. I think that was suggested in your other post about running rough after remote start.
