Now we find out about the recent oil change - and with "5w20" rather than 5w30, and it's beginning to sound like the "5w20" might be trans fluid (or maybe even coolant that has discolored the oil)? Well, if that was what was used, that might explain the code (whatever one it was) that indicated a problem with the intake solenoid.

FARMBOY. 5w20 ? Pretty sure GM recommends a 5w30 be used in the HHR's.

They sure do ... 5w30w conventional oil in 2006 thru 2010

5w30w "Dexos" Oil only 2011

I like really Mobil Super Premium 5/30 in my 2010.

Autozone carries it but buy it on sale.
