Programing New 2 Way Remote...How?

I thought about getting a new two way remote for my 2008 HHR.

I wanted to know if we have to have a dealer scan it to program it or can we do this on our own with the DTC?

Dealer has to scan it and add the antenna.

I'd never seen this before. Would it work to switch this out for the remote start system on the SS? The increased range would be nice.

It will work in the SS but like GM said the antenna needs to be changed. This is a two way system not a one way. I assume this is the need for the new antenna.

GM MRG my buddy has the GM scan tools and can flash computers at his shop would he be able to progam it for me if I install it?

Hey, Patrick49, wada ya mean "increased range would be nice". Is that what you're going to tell the little lady? You're getting it for the functionality of it? Or are you going to be truthful, like the rest of us - "Oh, new toy! I want!" HA HA! I think it's cool looking, that's 'nuff for me!

The kit includes 1 transmitter, 1 RCDLR, 1 antenna and a manual. For 2007 vehicles the antenna is installed behind the right rear quarter trim panel and for 2008 it is adhered to the right rear quarter glass.
