My bad, I didn't notice that. Is there anything that would cause the cooling fan to not come on when the clutch is burnt up so the compressor is not turning? The fan is now coming on at 217 degrees but even though I have checked everything it still don't come on when I turn on the a/c.

 

If the compressor is not running the fan doesn't. IIRC; it is the pressure switch that sets the fan on.

 

That's good. My compressor will be here this week so I can install it this weekend and hopefully my problems will be over. This old car has a lot of miles on it but I have taken very good care of it mechanically so I really want to drive it a while longer. Thanks for all your advice on this.

 

Ok, installed the new a/c compressor and all is good again. Hopefully for another 200,000 miles. Thanks to all for the help.
