Radio Auto-Adjust Volume high speed issue

in my 06 LT The auto-adjust feature on the volume has a quirk. On about the 3 bar on the volume when you get about 70 mph from 0-3 on the control is pretty silent. you can still hear it (almost a whisper), but not over the road noise. But when you turn the volume to about the 4th bar then the volume is slightly above comfortable listening levels.

I searched the forum and all I came across on radio issues was either working or not. The radio is still on, it's just as stated with the low volume at above 70. below 70 mph everything works fine.

Got any ideas, or troubleshooting suggestions?

Stay legal keep it under 70 MPH, lol could be a need to refresh the BCM , disconnect the battery for a half hour to reboot the computer

Interstate 80 through Nebraska, where the OP lives, has a speed limit of 75MPH.

As I live in California I cannot help the OP, as the maximum speed limit here is 70 MPH.

Yes, I saw you were from Canada.

One county in Texas has a Speed limit of 85MPH on a 40-mile stretch of toll road.

For more info see:

To stay on topic, what does it do if you turn it off or set it to another setting?

I am thinking a bad volume control.

Have you brought your vehicle into a dealership to have it diagnosed? If not I can definitely set up an appointment for you.

Don I have tried messing with it. nothing on the controls remedies it: off/on, equalizer, balance, etc. Jessica Thanks for your willingness to help. I don't frequent the interstate and am not utterly disturbed to the point of taking it in. I have a JVC unit I can install and see if this is a head unit problem or a speaker problem. Just have to find a couple free hours

I meant pressing menu, auto volume then you have several settings(off, low, med, high). I'm not sure we were on the same page and it isn't exactly explained anywhere nor is it intuitive.
