Radio Problem

Has anyone experienced the radio randomly changing stations then going back to the original station. This has just started happening on my '06 1LT with the stock radio. The radio will change from say 96.5 to 96.7 then usually go back to 96.5 in a few seconds.

Sounds like something I used to do to the neighbor that had the same tv remote as me...

The only time I had something like that happen, is when I manually tune the radio to a different station than one of the presets and shut off the car. When I start it up again it goes back to the last selected preset channel - not the last channel it was tuned to.

I'm not sure on this, but if you haven't set your presets you could just be hitting steering wheel controls (if you have 'em) accidentally... I do it all the time and usually right in the middle of a kickA** song too

I forgot. That used to happen in my minivan. I found out it was my kids changing stations from the rear controls. We don't have them in the HHR, do we?

On my 2006 HHR, if the radio's on FM, CD or Aux, after 10-15 min or so of driving, there will be a loud pop, then will continue fine.

However if it's on AM, usually after 30 min, the radio will change stations like you describe. I'm listening to 790, then pop, and it loses that station. So I dial to 770 and it picks up 790 (790 always goes to 770, 640 goes to 620). Then after 5 min. (almost like clockwork), it loses the station again. Then the only way to get it back is to turn the radio off then back on, then tune to 790 and it will be fine for the rest of the trip. This phenomenon is not random...it happens every time, exactly the same way, except perhaps the timing. Stop the car and restart, and this whole thing happens again, but after about 2 minutes.

I also, have had the key stuck in the ignition problem. The key will get stuck in the ingition after stopping the engine, and won't release, until it completely randomly decides to give it back...sometimes right away, sometimes the next day. Have left the key in, returned an hour later to find the radio blaring, even though the radio was turned off.

I hate Chevrolets because of these crazy electronic gremlins and will not likely get another. The HHR looks nice, but it's pretty disconcerting when they can't even get the AM radio to work right.
