Rattling sound in the front

I've got a rattle in the front of mine that is making me crazy. When I'm in the car alone I don't really hear it much but with a passenger it does it almost constantly when going over any imperfections in the road. It's kind of a clunking noise that sounds like it is coming from the center or the right side of the car just ahead of the front seats. I found that the bracket that supports the air cleaner was loose and tightened that but it didn't do much if anything.

Anybody had anything similar or have any suggestions? I've checked the suspension nuts and bolts on the right side and everything is tight.

First guess, the sway bar links, how many miles do you have, mine needed them at 23K. If you replace them use the grease-able Moogs they are much better made.

And the sway bar bushings. And specify 10" links when you purchase.

I've got almost 60K on mine. I'll check those to see what they look like.

Checked the end links and sway bar bushings. Both are OK.

I looked around some more while I was under the car and don't really see anything loose. Any other ideas on things to check?

At 60K, I would change the links, does it rattle worse on a gravel road ? Mine looked ok but were the culprit at 23K.

You say you hear this more when someone is in the passenger seat.
This may be a long shot, but you may want to check the front mounts of that passenger seat. There is 2 sets of double hooks that mount the front of the seat to the floor board of the car. If they are not snug in the slots it will make a metal on metal rattle.
Easy test is to sit in the passenger seat and rock back and forth and see if there is any loosness at the mount bottoms.
I know it's a loooong shot but can't hurt to try.

I'll see about getting the end links but the ones on the car seem to be tight and have no play. I'll give it a shot.

Thanks for the tip on the passenger seat firemangeorge. I don't seem to have any noise in the car unless there's someone in the passenger seat. It's really hard to tell exactly where it's coming from but it really sounds like it's under the floor board on that side. My wife even said that it seemed like she could feel something under her feet when the noise happens.

Finally got around to replacing the end links. This seems to have taken care of the problem. It had gotten progressively worse and was doing even with no one else in the car. After replacement, I drove the car around the block and the noise is gone for now. Hopefully it stays gone. The old links didn't look bad but evidently something was going.
