Rear tire has uneven tread wear

The shop is telling me there is no rear end alignment. The rear tires are wearing out on the inside. The chevy dealers around here tell me that there are no replacement parts that can fix the problem. I am sure they would want to change the whole rear end. I did purchase a Shim that MOOG(the maker of the shim) said would allow a degree of alignment on the read. My local shop said it was not enough. Does anybody have any ideas of what I can do to resolve this problem. I am in desperate need. It is our only means of getting around. This is my first time useing this forum. Please be gentle with me.

you can use the shim it will make a difference unless the rear is way out. Do you have any numbers from the alignment check?

Yes, you need to post some numbers on the actual settings as they are right now.

I didn't get any numbers. The guy said that it was about 2 inches off and the shims would have brought out only an inch

Seems to me they should have been lookin' at "set back" and "thrust angle".
The short of set back is "are the four tires equal in their positions" under the car. Think of the letter H, set back is when one is not equal (in the position). Thrust angle is H. The car is dog leggin' down the road. There are measuring pionts under the car that a good tech can use to get an ideal whats out of whack. And I'd be checkin' with some other aftermarket manufactures for a shim kit.
