Reduced Power, Electrical Issues?
2007 HHR check engine light on. engine power reduced and then engine disabled. Ok checked the codes- it first indicated trottlebody sensor. After about 30 mins or so, I tried to start it, and it ran like nothing was wrong. In fact, it cleared the check engine light. 1 week later, it starts all over again. I unplugged the trottle body sensor, waited a few mins and plugged in back in, it started and ran fine for another 5 days, then the problem started all over again. Of course, the trottlebody and the sensor are all one unit. So I replaced the throttle body. The problem fixed for about 2 months, same thing happened again. code said it was the throttlebody sensor. Replaced it again and the wiring harrness going to the throttlebody, thinking it might be a short and giving a false reading. Didnt fix the problem.
The next possible fix was the acelerator position sensor (think thats what its called) replaced the gas pedal. fixed problem for about a day. But the same problem still exist. I've read several post about this simular problem. Am I to understand all i've needed to do is change the battery? My car sometimes runs great, but at least once or twice a day it will "reduce power" and /or "Disable engine". But it always fixes itself, even to the point of canceling the "check engine light". If it is the battery, why would after turning the engine off and back on, it always starts and runs like nothings wrong. (for a while, anyway) I'll check the battery, but in the mean time:
What is my next course of action?
Thanks,
George

Very well could be the battery. But, that's just a guess. Some problems can be hard to diagnois over the internet.
Fwiw. When posting up about a problem and CEL, it helps if you would give the actual trouble code number. Describing a trouble code number(like saying "it was the throttle body sensor") does not necessarily mean the throttle body is bad. Remember that trouble codes are for diagnostic use and they are to help point you in the right direction.
