Remote Internal Contact Repairs Question

Remote Internal Contact Repairs Question
As noted in earlier posts by me and others, I have repaired my remotes several times with a small foil patch on the contact inside and under the push button. I use a small square of aluminum foil and so far in the last 18 months used Crazy glue, epoxy and even a small dab of Goop to attach the foil to the bump. The adhesive seems to have disappeared, none on the foil or even the carbon nub as I scrape it slightly and clean well with a drop of electrical cleaner.
After a while, 3 or 4 months actually, the foil works loose and weird actions start occurring so I open the remote, scrape off the old adhesive and reattach. All is well for a while then weirdness again? Seems the adhesive is rigid but the contact nub inside is flexible and separation occurs. Does anyone have a better method to attach the new foil piece so it will stay for ever?

Maybe try silicone adhesive - it works great. All those methods are just temporary.
You can keep fiddling around with it, regluing every once in a while and do a temporary repair over and over - or just go into almost any Auto Parts store and pickup a replacement fob cover and keypad, and throw your circuit board into it, and be done with the repairs. Or order just the replacement keypad on ebay etc..

I had checked a couple parts stores and while the outside looked close to the same......the parts people would not let me open to see if the contact nub was the same size and in the same location exactly. They also would not let me return it if I opened it so............A fix is in order.

I'm having an issue with mine as well. The unlock and lock buttons on my remote do not work. I figured it was a dead battery but the alarm went off when I pressed the alarm button. Is this related to what your talking about or do you think I just need a new remote?

Yes it is related. The remotes do not last forever. You can either repair it as well documented here, or be done with it and just buy a new keypad or case/keypad kit as noted above. You do not need to buy a new remote.
