lol yup... I don't think I've trusted a single salesman I've worked with in over a decade

the only reason I was okay with the one I bought was because *I* ran the Carfax and GM service history before I even went to look at it... and the issues it did have were things I could get fixed by my guys
I pretty much shut down the sales guy within the first 5 mins of me walking on the lot, was probably his easiest transaction, because I came in for that specific car, already knew the history, and all he had to do was be the middle man between me and the finance office

 

Only have to hit the lock button once, then press and hold the start button.

 

The 4 r/s HHR’s I’ve had all needed only one poke of the lock button, but The Chevy salesman for the one we bought new admonished us to push it twice. Maybe there are other cars that need that? Or maybe they wanted us to wear it out faster and buy a new one.

 

Could be, I have had probably ten GM vehicles with remote start and every one was one push for lock and one press and hold on the start button.

I actually felt bad when i bought mine. I bought it from an older woman, who said she never owned a car with remote start. I then started it in front of her, she was shocked she had it available the entire time she owned the car and didn't know it.

 

I have explained before; the first push is to ensure the doors are locked the second is part of the combination to the RVS. If the doors are already locked there is no requirement for 2 "lock". If you use the Lock+Panic method you do need "lock, lock+Panic". The RVS button is a combination of lock and panic if you look at the PCB.

In short, the lock, lock, RVS procedure is dummy proof. Not always required, but a good habit to avoid "RVS doesn't work anymore" complaints.

 

Technically it is never required, so what is the point of telling everyone the lock-lock-start sequence? Even if the car is unlocked, one push of the lock button, then pressing and holding the start button will start the car. Just as it says in the manual on post 14 above, one click of lock and one hold of start until it starts is the sequence. You can feel free to press lock 10 times first, but it doesn't make sense to tell everyone to press lock 10 times because you happen to like to do it like that.

 

And I always thought it was "LOCK' for locking the doors, then a 2nd "LOCK" to set the alarm. Then hit remote start.
But what do I know. Mines a 5 speed. No RS.

 

I thought that I was clear that the point is to DUMMY proof.

 

The BlackSwan was a rental, so no RS. I sold Oldblue 3 years ago , I just remember having to get the horn to honk then press the start button.
